Introduction to gua sha and facial wellness

WHAT IS Gua Sha?

A natural way to reduce fine lines and brighten the complexion, gua sha is a gentle stone massage used to help gently revive the face, reduce inflammation, and drain toxins from the tissue. This treatment incorporates acupuncture points to increase blood flow, collagen and elastin, and is a lovely act of self care, proactive age care, and overall facial wellness.

Gua sha is often used on the body prior to or after needling to support acupuncture in relieving certain ailments. In a facial gua sha session, it’s used in a gentler way with a slower rhythm than it is on the body. A stone tool—either made of jade, rose quartz, or bian stone—is used, as they all have beneficial properties for the complexion. Best and longer lasting results are seen with regular sessions booked close to one another, such as twice a week for five weeks. However, facial wellness sessions are also great for whenever you need to set aside some extra self care time. The results are both immediate and cumulative.

HOW DOES Gua Sha WORK?

Gua sha works by stimulating the face, helping to increase blood flow, and draining inflammation or excess lymph. This helps to rejuvenate the complexion, and is a great tool to use at home so that you can incorporate it into your daily facial routine. Please ask for more details if you are interested in creating a home routine with your facial gua sha tool.
